Travel Destinations, Egypt

Egypt is a great place to visit when you go for holiday. The tourist areas are fantastic with a wide range of sites to visit.

The most popular attractions are the following places to go:

The Giza pyramids which is one of the world's oldest tourist attractions. In Giza, there are three main pyramids. There is the Great Pyramid of Khufu, The pyramid of Kafhre and the smaller Pyramid of Menkuara. A pyramid each belongs to a king of Egypt.

Over millions of people visit Cairo and they say it is beautiful, exotic and chaotic. Cairo's interesting part could be the Medieval (Islamic) Cairo. Medieval Cairo has loads of mosques and churches. They have some major mosques there like the Mosque of Mohammad Ali and another mosque which is the oldest university in the world.

While visiting Egypt, you can also sail on boats which are called Feluccas. With these, you might want to go cruising through Cairo and Alexandria or even take longer cruises.

Pharaoh's were buried in Thebas, Valley Of The Kings. Here you will also find a tomb which belonged to Tutankhamen. The tomb was discovered in 1920. And if you want to visit this tomb, you can do so but to see his treasure, you will have to visit the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Now the weather! Well we all want our holidays to go as smooth as possible with great sites to visit and weather to be perfect. That is when we usually love our holidays. You can have the chance to visit Egypt when the weather is hot and suitable. But this is available during October through May. The temperatures range from 25 to 35 Celsius. But December through February is when it can get cold and wet. Swimming at this time won't be a good idea either.

Make sure you wear clothes which aren't heavy on you. It can very hot and sticky if you wear clothes which would make you feel very uncomfortable. Loos clothing should be worn. Also, maybe a pair of sandals as the ground can be hot which would sting your feet.

Do keep in mind that when I mean loos clothing, please do not wear shorts as they could attract unwanted attention to you. Egypt is a Muslim country and like Islam forbids these types of clothing for both genders. Just make sure you wear something suitable.

So here we have some information for you and your visit. I hope you found this article useful and do take the information on here carefully. There is quite a bit to remember but you should get the hang of it!

Vietnam

Vietnam is an interesting country because of its struggle in economy after the Vietnam War. Whether you have been there or not, reading about Vietnam would still make you eager to read more about it. I'm Vietnamese and making this report was a very fin and flawless experience. I learned very exciting things that I would love to share with you.

Vietnam is located in southeastern Asia bordered by Cambodia, China, and Laos. In total, land borders are 4,639 kilometers long. The boundary between Cambodia and Vietnam is 1,228 kilometers long while the boundary between China and Vietnam is 1,281. Finally, the boundary between Laos and Vietnam is 2,130 kilometers long. The area of Vietnam is 329,560 square kilometers. 325,360 square kilometers of the land was land and 4,200 square kilometers was water. Only 25% of the land is farmland (north-15%, south-10%). Forests and Woodland cover 30% of Vietnam. From May to January, typhoons flood with extensive flooding. Over fishing threatens the marine life population and groundwater contamination limits water supply. The final issue is Agent Orange, a chemical spayed by passing planes killed 1/5 of Vietnam's trees and caused birth defects.

In Vietnam, people study Buddhism, Taoism, Roman Catholic, ingenious beliefs, Islam, Protestant, Cao Dai, and Hoa Hao. People speak Vietnamese, Chinese, English, French, and Khmer. 85-90% of the people are Vietnamese, 3% are Chinese, and the rest of the 7-12% include Muong, Tai, Meo, Khmer, Man, and Chan. Average people live up to 68 years. 34% of the people are 0-14 years old, 61% of the people are 15-64 years old and 5% of the people are 65 years old or older.
During World War II, Japan took control of Vietnam for 5 years. Vietnam hoped to become an independent country with their own leaders. France, however, wanted it's colonies back so it sent soldiers and in a few months, France controlled Vietnam. Vietnam wanted to end French rule and attacked French troops and made France surrender after the battle of Dien Bien Phu. Now after French left, Vietnam was separated into two, north and south. A communist government led Northern Vietnam and a corrupt government led Southern Vietnam supported by France and the United States. Elections were to be held in 1954 to reunite Vietnam but none took place. To protest, in 1959, Viet Cong attacked Southern Vietnam. Since Southern Vietnam was not communist, Americans supported them and sent troops to Southern Vietnam for military assistance. They were afraid Southern Vietnam would turn communist too. This started the Vietnam War, also known as the 2nd Indochina War.

The battle lasted for 9 years. Soldiers fought in fields, swamps, jungles, and villages. Viet Cong, communist party leader, killed anyone he thought were helping Southern Vietnam and Southern Vietnam killed anyone they thought were helping Viet Cong. Agent Orange, a chemical sprayed by passing planes killed 1/5 of Vietnam's trees to uncover hiding spots. Americans were about to retreat to the United States when they discovered 58,209 people were either missing or died so the war carried on for two more years and in the end, Viet Cong won and all of Vietnam is communist.

After the Vietnam War, Vietnam has been one of the poorest countries in the world. Vietnam has to recover the damage that happened during the war. To make money, Vietnam had to trade with other countries. Vietnam's main export item is rice. Vietnam also exports crude oil, marine products, coffee, rubber, and tea. Their export partners are Japan, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, France, and South Korea. Import commodities include machinery and equipment, petroleum products, fertilizer, steel products, cotton, grain, cement, and motorcycles. Vietnam's import partners are Singapore, South Korea, Japan, France, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. 25% of the people in Vietnam do not have a job. 65% with jobs work with agriculture, and 35% work in industries and services. Industries include food processing, garments, shoes, machine engineering, mining, glass, tire, oil, and paper. Agriculture provides rice corn, potatoes rubber, soybeans, coffee, tea, bananas, and fish.

The Coat of Arms was modeled after communist party symbols, including the yellow star in the red background. Each point of the yellow star represents one of the five protectorates of the Union of French Indochina. The blood red color of the background refers to the violence of class struggle and the ultimate victory of the proletariat revolution. The cog and crops represent agriculture and industrial labor. The Coat of Arms was adopted on November 30, 1955 and was the reunification symbol on July 2, 1976. “Army March”, Vietnam's national anthem was written by Van Cao in 1944. It was adopted as northern Vietnam's anthem in 1945 and in 1976, it became Vietnam's national anthem.

Around the World with a Packet of Mince

If you have 500 grams of mince in the deep freeze, you have a meal waiting at any time. And the best thing about mince is you get to play with it. In other words, you create what you get, as it sure is nothing on its own. Mince is so even tempered. It does not dictate what you do with it. You can push it around and dominate it with your culinary wizardry.

Hang on to your apron. Here we go, around the world with a packet of mince! You can find the recipes on the net but hopefully this short world circumnavigation will give you some ideas form the humble pack of mince.

Australia: Meat pie

A number of countries have their own take on a meat pie, but the Aussies have made it into a standard. Pull into any service station, lunch bar or pub and have a meat pie. Mince, gravy and you can add carrots and peas if you want to make it more green friendly.

China: San Choy Bao

A Cantonese dish which has many versions. Usually made with chicken mince or pork mince, spiced and served wrapped in lettuce. Yummy.

Denmark: Frikadeller

Traditional Danish fare. Meat patties of minced beef and minced pork.

England: Shepherds Pie

Traditionally made from minced lamb or the lamb left over from a roast meal, finely chopped. It can be made with beef mince too. Scrummy mince with carrots and peas in gravy, topped with mashed potato and baked in the oven. The aromas fill the house.

Germany: Leberkaese

Another favorite with a mixture of beef and pork mince, herbs and seasonings, a few bread crumbs, packed into a tin and baked to produce a lovely meat loaf with a crusty top. Traditionally contains liver and sometimes bacon but in the modern world, you can adapt to your taste.

Greece: Kofta

A huge variety of recipes are found with different variants in many countries. In their simplest form, they consist of balls of minced beef or pork, mixed with spices and onions. Rice is added and an egg to make a meaty dough to be formed into meatballs. They can be grilled, fried, steamed, poached, baked or marinated. Generally served with a hearty sauce. Lots of room to play and create your own special meal.

India: Samosa

The ancient foods rarely remain static in how they are made or what they are made from. A Samosa made with minced beef or lamb, chopped vegetables and some herbs and spices, wrapped in pastry in a triangular shape, and baked, served with yogurt and mint, is a wonderful thing.

Italy: Bolognaise

Spaghetti bolognaise should be a fall back of every home cook. In can think of no time when someone has turned down “spag bol”, or turned their noses up at a plate of beautiful mince in tomato broth spooned over spaghetti. There is also plenty of room to add your own touch, depending on what you have to hand.

Israel: Meatballs

It is thought the Romans left these as a culinary footprint. These meatballs, of minced beef or chicken are made with chickpeas, cardamom, dill and cooked in chicken stock.

Japan: Menchi Katsu

A fried meat cake made with cabbage and mince, and then crumbed. Domo!

Lebanon: Ladies' Fingers

Minced lamb and herbs lovingly wrapped in filo pastry and baked.

Mexico: Tacos

Quick and easy and great to feed a group. You can add as much heat as you wish. Taco shells, lettuce, tomato, minced beef.

New Zealand: Rissoles

Minced beef, finely chopped onions, a few herbs of your choice, an egg and enough flour to bind the mix as you make it into small cakes. Cook them on the BBQ, in the oven, or in a fry pan. Easy peasy cooking. Another beauty to add your own personality to.

Poland: Golabki; Cabbage rolls

Cabbage leaves stuffed with a minced beef mixture combined with rice and onions

Saudi Arabia:	Kafta

Minced lamb or beef. Layers of spiced meat, sliced potatoes and fresh tomatoes. Covered in a tomato sauce, pine nuts cooked in the oven. Mmmmm.

South Africa: Bobotie

Although probably of Malay ancestry, the bobotie is popular in South Africa and other parts of Africa where the Dutch have traveled in the past. Another dish with many variants, giving the cook plenty of room to maneuver. Minced beef or lamb or pork is mixed with herbs and spices, some curry, raisins and topped with an egg custard before baking. Some will bake it inside a pumpkin.

Spain: Arroz Riojano; Mince and rice

Beef mince with wine, stock and herbs Cooked with rice in the center of a baking tray, baked in the oven covered for 25 minutes until ready to enjoy

Thailand: Num Prik Aong

Very spiced pork mince, with all the special flavors of Siam, served with steamed rice.

USA: Hamburger

Simple fare or a taste extravaganza designed to suit your taste and budget. Everyone has their favorite addition to the meat pattie, and fresh buns basic. Tomato, grated cheese and beetroot with BBQ sauce is enough to get troops rioting.

Mince is adaptable, friendly, comforting, and amenable, budget conscious, will mix with most things but can always surprise.
