Travel to Blackpool

Blackpool is a 6 hour journey from London ' s Victoria coach station. The fare for a single adult using National Express is around £40 return. For more information about prices for where you are, check with your local tourist board. Travelling to Blackpool is best done in the summer months when the weather is at its best. One of the most exciting places to stay at is the Viking Hotel with its non-smoking facilities and cabaret stage acts, it ' s a real treat. The May offers are as followed. 3 nights May2 nd -Friday-Monday 5 th for £119 and 4nights May 5th Monday-Friday for £89 both offers include excellent entertainment each night. The price and venues tend to change from time to time so try visiting this site for further details.

The restaurant is beautifully designed with chairs and tables set out in an orderly fashion. The added attraction is the amazing view of the seafront while you indulge in your food and if you 're lucky enough, you may get the same experience from your hotel room depending on which direction your window is facing.

Though some parts of the room don ' t give much in the way of size, there is a double bed, so there ' s plenty of space to stretch out after a long day. Each room has its own television set with satellite channels as well as local ones. The en-suite bathroom has its own shower, toilet and the usual toiletries.

This city is known for its famous tram service which has been around since the 1 st World War, and with the town centre just 5-10min ride away, it ' s a useful convenience as well as an uplifting experience for first time users. They come in different colours and styles, sheltered and open topped. I never got the chance to travel on the roofless ones, but it worth a try. Ticket prices for trams through Metro Coastline is £5.95 for an adult and £5.45 for a child. More information can be found at here When travelling on one, it gives you an unusual feeling of being on a railway train that ' s travelling on the streets of Blackpool. During your stay, take full advantage of the tram service. They will take you up to Fleetwood and back round to the town centre so you get to see more of the cities attraction.

The centre of town is alive with visitors and locals alike. Here you can buy gifts for friends and family, but don ' t forget to pick up some memorabilia for yourself. You can also find confectioneries such as rock candy, hard boiled sweets and delicious fluffy candy floss as well as jewellery, ornaments and many other delightful trinkets.

However, The Pleasure Beach has so many activities and a variety of indoor and outdoor fun interests. There ' s a theme park made just for the younger kids called Beaver Creak. Here children will be kept amused for hours with non-stop fun. One of the most intriguing rides for kids is the Treasure Beach water ride, but be prepared for the big splash at the end of it. Also the Ghost Train is a spectacular scary treat for them as it takes you to a second level of spookiness, but if that ' s too much for them, then they can always try their skills at Alpine Golf. It ' s like golf, but you have to putt the golf balls into tunnels and slightly obstructed holes in the wall and floor.

There are so many extreme Roller Coaster rides to choose from. None of them were for me, I like to keep my feet on the ground, but great for those who like the thrills " n " spills experience. One of the most popular rides in the theme park is the " Infusion " . Unlike the usual method of sitting in a cart, in this one your sitting in a seat that dangles beneath the tracks. The well designed ride is to give you the feeling of diving and with its turns and hoop manoeuvres, it ' s guaranteed to give you the adrenaline rush you seek. It ' s a good idea to take a map of the Pleasure Beach with you, or you may not find what you ' re looking for and you could get lost. These are available at the theme park free of charge or you can print one from their website . When you are there, you will need to purchase special wristbands from their ticket sales office in order to use the facilities. However, you can pre-purchase them before you get their.

Away from the sky-high adventures are some other ideal holiday treats such as the various arcades around the park. This is a place where you can test your skills against some of the most high-tech games and virtual reality simulations. If you ' ve never experience virtual reality, then I highly recommend it. You get to travel through doors and explore the many passageways within the cyber world as well as battling against bad guys. There is also a 4D cinema for the kid where they get to put on their 3D glasses while they watch a movie that seems so real, they can almost reach out and touch it. The seats vibrate with the action as well as twisting and turning while you get sprayed with water. If you want to go for something a little more relaxing, why not try your hand at bowling at the Bowladrome and/or a game of pool. There are many different things to see and do as you go from one arcade to the other.

The seaside is a spotlight destination for those who want to soak up the sun or splash around in the sea. The amazing view of the sea joining with the sky has a definite postcard look. While you are on the sandy beach, you ' ll notice some Donkeys. These are part of the beach resort and kids can ride them up and down the shore for £2. Also the famous Blackpool Tower stands high above all the other surrounding buildings. It was built in the 1890 ' s and just beneath it is a ballroom hall where people came and dance the night away, and over a hundred years later, nothing has changed. People still use it for entertainment venues.

The streets of Blackpool are quite clean especially around the resort areas. However this town truly comes alive at night. The streets are illuminated with thousands upon thousand of multiple coloured lights, even street lamps and buildings don ' t go untouched. It ' s like a British version of Las Vegas 24 hours a day and as you walk down the street, you can hear the music pumping from clubs and coins falling from winning customers slot machine in the nearby casinos. Everything seems to have a good feeling atmosphere to it. At the end of the day, you go back to your hotel room, have a shower and sleep on that luxurious double bed.

For me the city of Blackpool is an excellent choice for a getaway from the busy streets of London. The moment you get of the coach, you can smell the freshness in the air. The town is clean and tidy even on my first day I was worrying if I was getting any dirt from my shoes on the floor. It ' s such a breathtaking experience when you here the sound of the sea crashing and displaying itself in great wonder while seagulls hover above, but watch out for these birds if they get the chance, they ' ll take your food. So if you ' re planning your next holiday why not try this bright city, you ' ll be glad you did.

Hong Kong: A City of Lights

As Asia's world city, Hong Kong has much to offer, whether you are coming for business or for pleasure. It is a city of magical charm- the sophistication of an international city, culture diversity and cosmopolitan lifestyle are all at the core of Hong Kong attractions.

Hong Kong is a city of lights- it was awarded the world's largest permanent lights and sound show, and it earned its place in the World book of records. This is a nightly 15 minutes, showcasing a symphony of lights which starts at 8 PM and gives an energetic spectacle of neon lights. This magical show combines interactive lights of 33 key buildings of booth Hong Kong and Kowloon islands with magical musical effects to showcase the vibrancy and glamorous night of the Victoria Harbour. Romantic walks along the piers and the Islands' long stretched promenades are a must- you must not shy away from these calming walks.

Hong Kong at night is a lively city and it will put a sparkle back in your life if you are a sea food lover. Dining at various sea food restaurants that surround most of the waterfronts in all the islands, you get to order your own fill from the fish tucks displaying live sea delicacies- You will no doubt enjoy feasting on the delight of Chinese Sea food cuisines. Aboard a Chinese pleasure junk boat, which sails to Lai Yue Mun fishing village, not only will you experience a great sail on a Chinese primitive transportation, but you will enjoy an intoxicating view of the islands and the high rise residential buildings which line the islands shores.

Cooking classes won't be a bad idea, not only to enjoy the taste food but learn to cook Chinese food even when you return home. You will learn how to prepare Chinese dishes from basic culinary art, to the oriental sophisticated dishes, like Dim Sum, fried rice, or a succulent fish dish. The Chinese use a wok, and their food is cooked on high heat, normally, they use only the freshest produce- be it meat , fish or vegetables. Part of the Chinese cuisine art is the blending of tastes to produce a mouth watery dish, and their greens are steamed to return the freshness and colour of the vegetables. The Chinese appreciate their food, which mostly comprises of the best ingredient with healing elements. With the Chinese, eating is an art- from the way you use the chop sticks to chewing, down to the swallowing and sipping of your teas. You can get more information on places to find self cooking restaurants at the hotel desk.

If your passion is shopping and bargain hunting- take advantage of your Hong Kong holiday, and visit the well known flea markets of Mong Kok and Stanley markets. An open bus tour will ignite your spirits too, and it starts from Tsim Sha Tsui (TST), and will take you along Hong Kong golden mile on Nathan road to Canton road where you will visit the famous Ladies Market in Monk Kok, known for its off the hook bargains. Price negotiations are like a sport here, and if you are good, you will meet your match in the shrewd, but polite traders.

Hong Kong's natural beauty offers unspoiled natural parklands and intoxicating sceneries. Experiencing a Sub-Tropical, like Mediterranean climate, and mountainous landscape, Hong Kong is favoured by backpackers from all over the world. Hiking in Hong Kong is one of the great outdoor adventures, even for the locals, a good break from their appreciation of food, which of course is healthy and healing. Venture out to two of the best known peaks; the Amah Rocks and the Lion Rock country parks. The walk starts with a visit to the Che Kung Temple in shatin. The Temple is a dedication to general Che who earned his respect and fame for his loyalty during the last days of the Sung dynasty, which rule from AD960-1279. From the Temple you will walk uphill to the legendary Amah rock- the Amah rock has a legend tale by its unique appearance. The rock tip is believed to be the remains of a petrified woman, whose husband, a fisherman feared dead by drowning, but she sits there, facing the waters, in wait of her husband's return. From here you have a magnificent, impressive view of Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong's highest mountain. Then the trail will take you up- separating kowloon and the New Territories, the path leads you up to 495 meters-high Lion rock, which gets its name from the close resemblance to a Lion head. The Lion rock gives you a splendid view of the kowloon urban grid, Victoria harbour and Hong Kong Island. The hike heads down along hilltop ridges, going around the Eagle Nest mountain where you will have glimpses of monkey troupes. This is also a great nature reserve, and your long hike brings you down to Old Tai Po road.

Another favoured, spot is the Lantau Island- double the size of Hong Kong Island, this lush greenery has much to offer you. Not only does it accommodate the city airport, but it is also a great outdoor destination. With its high peaks, mostly in the mist, deep valleys and usually deserted sandy beaches, it is an opposite of the urban grid, with its unspoiled countryside, which makes Hong Kong so distinctly an attraction of its own merit. You may also want to cross the famous bridge the native way by boarding a boat from Central which takes 45 minutes to one hour to get a close up view of the Tsing Ma Bridge, which connects Tsing Yi Island to Ma Wan. You can also get a great view of the Bridge from Lantau Link Vistors Centre deck and viewing platform.

while you are on Lantau island, visit Ngong Ping, which sites a stunning spectacle of the Buddha statue measuring about 34 meters, which is the largest outdoor standing statue in the world. You can choose to walk the buddha mile by taking the 260 steps through the mountain ridge leading to the buddha statue and learn about the buddha history. Or you can take the new cableway, the Ngong Ping 360 degrees, which is approximately 20 minutes to cross over from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping. Ngong Ping village offers a diverse array of entertainment, dinning and souvenir shopping. You can finish your visit of the Island aboard the cableway Ngong Ping 360, back to Tung Chung City Gate Mall which houses factory outlets at bargain prices of Branded fashion- a must to visit if you are a brand cat.

There is so much to view in Hong Kong, from the great traditional Chinese culture, to the cosmopolitan hong Kong with its mega-architectural structures, and lifestyle. The once Isolated Island is growing rapidly, but this mountainous land will always be a retreat, hiding the Chinese hidden treasures, and a place of enchantment for the curious soul to find balance and harmony.

Hotels

Depending on your budget, you will get your money worth stay in the Hong Kong lavished hotels. Tsim Sha Tsui (TST), has a number of hotels , from two stars to five stars hotels. Most of the hotel costs includes a shuttle bus, gym, steamer, sauna, but massage therapies are charged at a minimal fee worth your take.

Transport

Hong kong transport system is one of the best in the world. Efficient and reliable you will never get lost in Hong Kong- MTR and KCR train companies are well structured serving the all of Hong Kong, inter-linking all the Islands, with a help of the Green and red taxis completing your transport satisfaction in the inner cities. Hong Kong has a very efficient pre-paid card called Octopus, you can buy it at any train station for HK$50 adults, and HK$28 for kids from 4 to under 12 years. An Octopus card is used for most of the Islands' transport, except the taxis, you can also use it to pay for your small expenditures, and you can top it up at participating convenient stores, like 7 Eleven and the train stations' inquiry desk. This card can be sold back and get your HK$50 back when you are leaving Hong Kong at any train station desk.

Visa

It is always good you check with the Hong Kong local embassy in your country if you may need an entry Visa to Hong Kong. Most of the countries, except the immediate neighbouring countries, do not need a Visa to enter- you receive a 90 days stay on entry stamped in your passport.

Currency

Hong Kong uses Hong Kong dollars and like other developed nations, you use credit cards to pay for your hotel fees. nevertheless, you need cash if you have plans to visit the flea markets, to pay for your transport, and some of the remote Chinese restaurants. Like any other travel destinations, do not carry too much cash around although Hong Kong has a very low crime rate in the world, be cautious. Tips are optional and you don't pay any sales tax- you pay the tag price and you are all set.

A Tourist's Guide to NYC and Paris

New York City

New York is filled with lots of activities, and outdoor performances, and let's do mention many lights! In fact, it should be called the city of lights, like Paris, although Paris has many great lights as well. One can be walking in Time Square in the middle of the night and mistake it for daytime. I know that has happened to me, no jokes.

I've been to New York plenty of times not to know its greatest, most grandeur attractions. One of such, which I think would make it at the top of the list, is the Statue of Liberties. Although it can be seen from New Jersey's State Park, it is part of the New York skyline. One must indeed visit this monument, and go even for the torch, if possible. It's quite an adventure!

Before 2001, another great attraction would have been the Twin Towers. Those buildings stretched as far as anyone could imagine, and dominated the New York skyline. It was indeed a marvel that is no longer there. However, you can still get the best out of New York. For instance, central park has been a welcome mat for lovers of nature, not only tourists but also New York residents who want to escape the urban noise and stressing factors. It's quite magnificent and picturesque. There are mainly four bodies of water, the Reservoir, the Lake, Harlem Meer, and the Pond, in that order from largest to smallest. Among the many things that are in Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum makes a pretty good impression, and has a tourist magnet of its own.

New York City alone doesn't sum up the magnificence of the States. There are indeed many other great places to visit, such as North Carolina, a personal favorite of mine, New England, and many coastal states such as Florida, if one has a weakness for the beach! Next Stop, Europe!

Paris

The city of lights is indeed awesome! Well, it might as well be the center of Europe, but I think it's famous enough for its position as Fashion Capital of the World. Aside from the States, France welcomes the most tourists a year than anywhere else. The most popular French destination of course is Paris.

Not exactly my hometown, but I think I can be an advocate. It is breathtaking, and not many can resist Paris, but one of the things that Paris is famous for, besides culture, is the Eiffel Tower. It seems with national monuments these days, sky is the limit. However, in Paris, you don't see too many skyscrapers, like in New York, but that's really nothing to sneeze at.

Now, everyone should be familiar with Moulin Rouge. It's the red windmill with lots of lights, hence the name, Moulin Rouge, which means red windmill. This cabaret, a restaurant or nightclub featuring a stage for performance, will offer you one of the best times of your life! Did I mention that the food was excellent? But that's no poor man's menu! There is no wonder it's located in the “red-light” district. Aside from the Moulin Rouge, there are many more attractions, and a trip to Paris is like a trip to Paradise!

Ever wonder how the Parisians spent their summers? Well, the ones that chose to stay in Paris over the summer, at least. The beach is always a good idea. Yes. I said beach. The Seine River is unlike any other in the world. It has many things in contrast to other rivers. It's green, to name one. By the way, that sounds disgusting, but since it's in Paris (well, it runs through Paris), the impossible is always possible. During summers, many Parisians, as well as tourists, bring their beach chairs and strip to their underwear. And to make it more convincing, they even add Palm trees, or Palmettos along the quays, and they soak up the sun. How imaginative!

But make sure to visit the Louvre and the Versailles palace before your next stop to London, Paris's brother city. However, London and Paris is not the only tourist attractions in Europe. In that list, there is Marseille, Milan, Rome, Berlin, Amsterdam, and many more cities that tourists cannot resist. Together they make Europe what she is today.

The City of the Lights

There is a place where peacefulness and amusement come to a perfect agreement.
It is a pearl set between the major European Countries, just in the middle of the Switzerland.
It is a constant of my summers, an imperative stop for my sould during the trip, a magic place: Luzern.

The city dues the assignment of its nickname as "City of the lights" to an ancient legend which tells about the miracle of the light: one day an angel showed to the first colonists of Luzern the exact place where to build a chapel in honor of San Niklaus, the patron saint of the fishermen and of the sailors, and did it with a bright light which radiated in a specific position.

There was a time when Luzern was a village of fishermen, but with the years, thanks to the opening of the St. Gotthard Tunnel, it has been always more known for its monuments and natural beauties and today it has even become an important reference point for an always growing commerce. Luzern is the capital of the homonym Canton, where the main language is the German, it is the cultural centre of the region and the fourth Swizz urban agglomerate, it is also very appreciated for its picturesque landscapes inserted between the Alps and the superb homonym lake onto which it has been built.

From every zone you arrive into the city, you can immediately notice the neatness and the extreme cleanliness which will surely be stamped in the memory of the tourists, just as it happend to me; in addition, it is easy to notice the naturalness with which the modernity is able to co-habit with the ancient, it is an example the combination of buildings used as banks or important commercial offices with the bridges and the ancient towers which can be suddenly discovered walking downtown.

In fact, Luzern is also famous for its many bridges, one of them in particular attract the curiosity of the visitors, it is the one always pictured in the photographs of the city onto magazines and travel guides, it is the "Sheltered wooden bridge", the most ancient one preserved in Europe, called the Kapellbrücke; it is magic to cross over on it by foot and walk in this way onto the Reuss river and it is possible to look up to several paintings inserted in triangular-shaped wooden panels under the trusses of the roof, as well as a breath-taking panorama; next to the bridge it is situated the Wasserturm octagonal tower, named in this way just because it was built onto the water.

From that position, people can notice the two dark and very spiky steeples of the Hofkirche cathedral and at the opposite place there is the lake of Luzern from which the touristic boats leave and where they arrive (which are amazingly enlightened during the nights). Proceeding with the walk, you can encounter the railway and bus station and the fantastic lake front from which you can have access to the beach zone of the Lido, going on the most venturer tourists can do trips and naturalistic excursions onto the Pilatus Mount via cog railway or cableway.

Entering the historical center, I quickly reached the promenade where there is the Weinmarkt main square, during the walk it was surely magic to esteem the beautiful fresco paintings on the walls of the historical houses and to stop in some shops which sell the renowned and unholy Swiss chocolate. I can remember when, after a few steps, during my first visit to the city, I arrived at one of the most famous monuments of Luzern, the Sterbende Löwe, which means the "Dying Lion", carved directly onto the rock in memory of the heroic death of the Swiss soldiers occurred in the 1792 at the Tuileries, it is a very touching sculpture for every tourist.

Proceeding on the lake front, I relaxed on a bench onshore, as many other people, in a wide area among the trees and the flowers of the promenade and moving a bit forward I met a place of the nightlife which certainly give prestige to the city of Luzern, the large Grand Casino. Again a few steps forward you can reach the most interesting zone for the ones who want to relax on vacation, in fact it is the beach area and the place for the accommodations for the tourists, with several campsites where the operators speak the languages of the Swiss Cantons and the Lido, a sort of "park" with fee where the visitors can sunbathe on the sand or on the grass, can take the children in the playing area, can do some sport on the playgrounds or in the swimming pool, can have their meals at the restaurant or under the beach umbrellas on the terrace on the lake.

In sum, Luzern is a fascinating place proper to every requirement, a cutting edge city in many fields which knows also how to keep alive its own origins, which knows how to welcome the other cultures in a very tolerant atmosphere and at the same time rigorous in its rules, it is the ideal destination for relaxing or very active vacations according to the preferences, in every case it is the perfect place where to find yourself again.
