Holiday World

Holiday World, formerly known as Santa Clause Land, is located in Santa Claus, Indiana. Holiday World is known for their large and fast wooden roller coasters, their free soft drinks and sunscreen, and their Splashin' Safari water park. Costing only $39.95 per adult for both Holiday World and Splashin' Safari, no wonder the park is said to be "Number one for family fun." Once you pay admittance, you can ride all rides in both parks as many times as you want for no extra charge. You can get tickets at discount prices by buying more than fifteen or more tickets at a time, purchasing two consecutive day tickets, visiting the park after 3:00 P.M., bringing in an empty Pepsi can, or by buying season tickets. The parking, inner tubes, shows, sunscreen, and soft drinks are always free.

There are always different shows and performances that you can see. There are various singing and dancing groups. The diving show is always a crowd pleaser. You can hear a story being told by Santa Clause himself. The music shows vary from country, to gospel, to oldies, and even karaoke. You are sure to be entertained and have a few laughs no matter what show you decide to see.

Their wooden roller coasters consist of the Raven, the Legend, and the Voyage. The Voyage roller coaster has been voted number one wooden roller coaster in the planet. It's maximum speed is 67.4 miles per hour. The Raven is the first wooden roller coaster that was built at Holiday World. It was first introduced to the world in 1995, and has been loved by thrill seekers ever since. The Raven was named the number one wooden roller coaster on the planet from the year 2000 through 2003 and has remained a Top 10 coaster ever since. It is okay to scream, but be warned, there are hidden cameras that will take your picture and everyone can see after the ride is over!

Splashin' Safari is definitely the best water park that I have ever been to. There are many different water slides to go down. There are two large wave pools. You can be lazy and float around in an inner tube in the lazy river. You can race your friends by going down the Jungle Racer and seeing your times on a large screen. You will be able to slide, splash, laugh, climb, and "monkey around" in the new Kima Bay water fun park. The Monsoon Lagoon is similar. The Bahari is a larger wave pool with less intense waves than the original wave pool. The Zinga is a large slide where up to four people can ride in the same tube. You are in an enclosed slide, until you are slung into the large funnel. It is so much fun! The Zoombabwe, Watubee, the Bamboo Chute, and the Amazoom are other fun water slides. With the Otorongo, you have your choice of slides: the Oto, the Ron, or the Go.

The Raging Rapids and the Frightful Falls are two rides that will get you wet and cool you off outside of the Splashin' Safari. The Rapids will seat your eigtht and will take you around a little town that is full of suprises! The Frightful Falls is a log ride that goes up high, and drops you fast. Be sure to smile; your picture is taken in the middle of the fall. You will definitely get wet in both of these rides.

The Liberty Launch is like the reverse of other theme park's Hellevator. In the launch, hydrolics launch you up high into the sky. Paul Revere's Midnight Ride looks like a large spider or octopus. Your cart will spin in circles as you go around, up, and down. The Scarecrow Scrambler is a similar ride, but it does not go up and down. You can bump into someone you know, in the Rough Riders bumper cars, that is! There are also bumper boats. There are many different rides for the little ones to enjoy as well.

Be sure to visit one of the many gift shops. Hungry? You have many options of food, from Mexican, to pizza, to burgers, to chicken strips, dippin dots, funnel cakes, ice cream cones, and just about everything else you could crave.

Thrills, chills, sun, and fun: that is what you can expect by going to Holiday World. There is fun for the entire family, no matter what age or interests. There are shows, roller coasters, trains, the Holidog, rides, water, and yesSanta himself. The only thing missing is you! There are lifeguards and slide attendants on duty at all time for your safety. All of this fun, for one low price. What is better than that?! So what are you waiting for? Come on down to Santa Claus, Indiana and visit Holiday World and Splashin' Safari.

Review of the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio

Recently, my family and I spent the night at the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio. My aunt and uncle graciously gave us a night's stay at the Great Wolf Lodge for Christmas. This weekend getaway seemed like just what the family needed.

Getting to the Great Wolf Lodge was easy. The Great Wolf Lodge is located next to King's Island amusement park, so my family was clearly aware of how to get there.

Upon arrival, we took delight in the whimsical look of the building. The Great Wolf Lodge appears to be created from enormous Lincoln Logs. My children were amazed by this fact.

As we entered the building, we saw stuffed animals hanging on the walls to achieve an authentic look of the lodge. A magnificent chandelier was in the main lobby. This fabulous light fixture was accentuated by antlers. The fireplace gave the Great Wolf Lodge a warm, cozy feel.

Starbucks were giving away free samples of products. The item tasted great. This vanilla frappuccino reminded me of a cool, refreshing vanilla shake. This really got us in the mood for summer.

Instead of the bone-chilling temperatures of outside, we shedded our coats and sweaters and traded them for our swimsuits. The entire family headed off to the indoor water park at the Great Wolf Lodge. The water was a little cooler than I personally preferred, but this warm atmosphere was beautiful compared to the flurries outside the window. The indoor water park at the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio was extremely clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I appreciated the fact that the staff kept safety first, but were not constantly hovering over shoulders blowing the loud whistles to get attention.

My only gripe about the indoor water park was that there was not much room to set down your towels or a bag of personal items in the area during the busy time. By the end of the evening, the towels were gone. A brief wait presented us with warm towels, but our family of six had to share and ration three towels. Guests may want to bring their own towels and store them in a locker for a slight fee to reduce this issue.

The hotel also offered shops, restaurants, and an arcade. The children loved the large arcade area. Of course, we played some games and cashed in our tickets for the usual prizes. One item I liked, was that the children could color a free page from the website to receive two free tokens to the arcade. The kids enjoyed the project and daydreaming about the vacation and parents get a couple of free tokens for the children to spend.

The hotel provided story time for kids at 8:00 PM and a movie at 8:30. My older children weren't too impressed with story time, but my five year old son was glued to the presentation. This was a nice way to end the evening for the little ones.

The movie was in the symposium of the hotel. At first, the projector was not working properly, but the staff quickly resolved the issue. We ended the evening before the Muppet movie was over and headed back to our family suite.

The room was spacious for a family of six. The large, comfortable beds were clean and cozy for all. The bathroom was spotless, but the toilet paper left something to be desired.

Our room was fully equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, safe, hairdryer, and ironing board. We appreciated the microwave and refrigerator feature. The refrigerator was perfect for storing leftovers from a nearby restaurant and the microwave made snacking easy and convenient. The hotel sells items such as candy and microwave popcorn for customer convenience.

The Great Wolf Lodge turned out to be a great place for the family. We all had a great time. We will not only cherish the memories of this fun trip to the Great Wolf Lodge, but already anxiously awaiting a return trip in the future.

For many of us, the summer has quickly come to an end. The thought of going to an amusement park sends chill down our spine. However, in the early winter season, amusement parks offer many different activities such as Halloween spooky haunted houses, and Christmas spectacular lighting events. Wherever you are, try to make it to one of these amusements for a fun and entertaining time.

Six Flags, San Antonio, Texas

Six Flags, Fiesta Texas offers a Fright Fest this Halloween and Holiday in the park. Check web site or call for time and day. The Tony Hawk's Big Spin roller coaster with whirling cars that drop, twist, and lift is a big hit for brave riders. The Superman Krypton Coaster spirals you through the air at 70 miles an hour. There are other entertainment events at the park if you are not into extreme rides.

General admission is $46.99 for adults, $31.99 for 48 inches and under.

Sea World, San Diego, California

This is the first marine park, featuring wild life encounters, and killer whales shows as well as rides. It opens year round. Sea World offers sleepovers where you bring sleeping bags, pillows, and camp out next to the manatees, sharks, dolphins or Beluga whales. There are currently seven sleepover locations. Call or check web site for information. You can also book parties which include dinner and breakfast, and the price is $120 person.

General admission is $57 for 10 years of age and over, $47 for 3 to 9 year-old.

Mount Olympus Water and Theme Park, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin

The Olympus Water and Theme Park is open year round, since it offers both indoor and outdoor parks. There are 36 water slides, wave pool, kiddie area, 6 roller coasters, and 8 go-cart tracks. Disko offers speeding, spinning, and rotating for the thrill seekers. There are many other rides to meet all members of your family.

If you buy your tickets online, it is only $23. Unlimited admission is $27, and children under 2 years of age are free.

Hershey Park, Hershey, Pennsylvania

Hershey Park offers Hershey Park in the Dark for Halloween, and Christmas Candy Lane in Hershey. This candy theme park has 10 gravity-defying coasters, and a Hershey museum.

The Hershey Park will be a big hit for your children. The Christmas Candy Lane will be opened from mid-November through December. One million lights and holiday decorations will transform Hershey Park into a winter wonderland.

General admission is $9.95 per person for operational rides and events. Take advantage of the 3-mile Hershey Sweet Lights spectacular display for $20 per car.

Busch Gardens Europe, Williamsburg, Virginia

Busch Garden has over 50 rides, 10 main stage shows, and a magical children's area. “Curse of DarKastle” ride won the park its best theme park in the world attraction in 2005. Busch Garden also won four consecutive awards as the “Favorite Theme Park.”

From September 14 to October 28, the weekend nights turn spooky at Busch Garden Europe, which included in general admission. Haunted houses, ghouls, and rides through darkness, and chilling effects will give you a frightening atmosphere.

General admission is $54.95 for 10-year-old and up, $47.95 for children from 3 to 9, and less than 2 years of age is free.

Theme parks are not just for summer time any more. If you want to experience something different this year, these five destinations are worth to check out. Dress for the weather if you live in colder climax. It could be freezing when the sun goes down. Bring extra sweaters so you could enjoy the festivities in comfort.
