How to Find the Top Restaurants in Your Area All the Time, Every Time

Want to go eat out? Don't want to eat at the usual? What can you do to ensure that the restaurant you go to is more than just OK but instead the top one or one of the top ones?

Here are a few resources for you to ensure you never eat in a bad or even average restaurant in your area again, only the top restaurants.

Your friends: OK, Not exactly a revelation but what better and trusted resource could you find for a top restaurant in your area than your friends? You can quiz them up and down on their top recommendations. If your friends use Facebook, have them all install the “my restaurants” application to save you the hard work of having to speak with them. Reviews will be localized to your city or area.

Yelp.com: Yelp has become the dominant review site on the web and its core strength is still its restaurant reviews. Yelp is a social network site where millions of users, many I'm sure from your area, review the restaurants they have used with written reviews giving a spectrum of detail. A nice feature of Yelp is that if you have to make a split second decision about a restaurant in your town or city and you have a cell phone with internet access, you can check their site on your phone and pick the restaurant with the highest rating so you get the top one. A friend of mine claims he has not eaten at a restaurant that he would not highly recommend and consider a top choice in the last 2 years by this method.

Message boards: People love to give their opinion and if you have enough foresight to plan ahead, post on various message boards like the food discussion board on craigslist or on the website for various local newspapers. Ask for an opinion of the top Cajun restaurant in the area and you soon will have a beautifully surveyed response with all the top local Cajun restaurants and the ones to avoid.

Never use yellow pages, advertisements again or have to guess by looking at the menu or how nice the interior or wait-staff look. Use these methods to find the top restaurants in your area every single time.

Top 10 Weirdest Foods

Rattlesnake Steak - from Texas, USA

A steak made from rattle snake. It was a nasty to think about the snake, but was kind of chewy, At least they put some spices and herbs on it.

Mexican Worm Tacos - from [Central] Mexico

Fried caterpillars in a spicy, meaty tortilla anyone?... Didn't think so…. Actually not as bad when fried, But not a good snack (at least for me).

Hirnsuppe - Germany [all places in Germany]

Raw calf [baby cow] brains…. The kind of brain food you wouldn't expect.

Actually it was pretty yummy, until I asked what it was (it was in a soup) … (I'm not sure if this is the right picture)

Snake soup - Hong Kong

Snake is usually most eaten [in Hong Kong] in winter, mostly because you can drink the warm snake blood (I had wine instead…Ugh warm snake blood *shivers*).

Tasted a bit like chicken [soup] , really tough chicken with spicy broth and a glass of wine.

Giraffe - Kenya [Africa]

It actually a pretty good dish. It was very tender and had a nice taste to it (very unique).

If you visit Kenya (or near it) you've got to try it (unless you don't eat meat)

Crocodile - Kenya [again]

It may be a white meat, unique too, but it's not as good. For a white meat it's rich and heavy. I had it roasted over hot coals (on a split), and it was pretty good.

“ Hundred Year egg “ - China

It was a thinly sliced hardboiled egg, but the yellow was BLACKand the white was

Yellow-greenish[like a light green grass color]…. Ugh, it was as bad as it looked.

Disgusting, more like hundred year OLD egg.

Boiled Electric Eel - Ecuador

Cut up chunks of eel, boiled in soup. I The inside was real bony , the outside was slimy and tasted muddy…I like the snake soup MUCH better.

Kava - Fiji

It's actually a drink. Its nasty, tastes like wet cement. It's made of crushed Kava root and water. It's kind of white like milk. Eww, I might actually like the warm snake blood more, and that's saying something.

Clay - Africa

No tricks, its actual (though very carefully) dug up clay that Africans eat. It's very rich and mineral like, similar to a mineral tablet. I didn't try it, but my friend claims he did (pfft yeah right). I saw this while eating crocodile (not the same time, but that same day). I would THINK it would taste very rugged, and chewy.

The clay is dug up and used carefully to make sure its edible, but I wouldn't go to an art store and buy it like a candy bar.

Well that concludes my documentary on weird foods (for now). Just to know, about the longest time period from eating these foods were about 4 years. At least not all of the weird stuff is gross.

Thank you for reading this, I wonder what weird food is next! (Hopefully a tasty one!) Bye! PS: If you know a weird food, pm me and I might just eat it!

Seven Beer Wonders of the World

1. BILK

"BILK" basically means Beer plus Milk. The idea to produce BILK (which is 30% milk and 70% beer) came from a liquor shop owner in Hokkaido, Japan. In order to solve the problem of overproduction of local milk and to help out his fellow friends and family members (mostly dairy farmers), he proposed to add the milk to beer. BILK also contains hops and the process of making it does not differ much from the normal brewery process. It looks and tastes like ordinary beer with a strong scent of milk and hints of sweet fruity flavor. Currently, BILK is sold only in Japan. However, due to heavy media attention and high local demand, the product is normally out of stock.

2.
CHOCOLATE BEER

This limited edition of the "Imperial Chocolate Stout"” is produced by Atsugi, Japan Brewery just before the Valentines Day celebration. What's unusual about this product is it doesn't even contain any cocoa even though the beverage tastes chocolatey and there is a word "Chocolate" in its name. To produce this beer, the malt is roasted at a very high temperature to create the chocolate flavor and darker body. It has an alcohol content of 8.9 percent. The beer costs around 630 yen per bottle and is available only in Japan.

3.
CHAMPAGNE BEER

Cobra Beer Inc USA launched the "Krait Prestige Champagne Lager" in 2006. This beverage is a combination of champagne and lager or beer in one bottle. The term "Champagne" actually describes the process of making this product. Once the beverage is packed into 750ml bottles, they will be injected with ale yeast and it is cork conditioned for 2 weeks. The retail price of this product is about $13 per bottle.

4. DOG'S BEER

A pet shop owner in The Netherlands came up with an idea to create beer for her pet dog. The non-alcoholic beverage is made of beef extract and malt. A small local brewery helped her to make her dream come true by producing the beverage, labeled as "Kwispelbier", which basically means beer for the wagging tail. It costs about $2.15 per bottle or equivalent to Euro 1.65.

5.
PIZZA BEER

The "Mamma Mia Pizza Beer" was created by Tom and Athena Seefurth of Campton Township, Illinois, USA in 2006. The
beer is now sold in their local restaurant and it claims to be the world's first culinary beer. The ingredients to produce this beverage include tomatoes, onions, garlics and spices such as oregano and basil. Obviously, "the beer tastes of the ingredients mentioned above" as claimed by the locals who have tasted it.

6. BEER-SICLES

A restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia came up with the idea of creating the beer-sicles or frozen beer popsicles-look-alike made from 99 percent beer quite recently. However, due to
controversy and possible violation
of the local alcohol law, the production of the said beer-sicles was put to a temporary stop until further notice.

7. LAUGHING BEER

Israeli chemical engineers came up with the idea of infusing beer with a small amount of laughing gas or nitrous oxide, nitrous oxide, a controlled substance in Israel. It is said that the beer may cause the drinker to laugh. It might be a good way to have some fun and relieve some stress too. However, this product is not in the market yet, pending the approval from the local Health Ministry and patenting procedures.
