How to Rent a Vacation Home

Many people who travel, and especially if you're traveling in groups, you might consider renting a vacation home. Instead of staying in a hotel, why not a villa in Florida, California, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Europe?

Along with some of these vacation homes, you can rent your own beach, your own ski slope...your own little island...

And this is not necessarily for the so-called "rich and famous" or those on reality TV who often stay in rented vacation homes. Young people on spring break, church groups, business groups can pool their money and rent vacation villas.

If you've never rented a vacation home before, ask your trusted travel agent about this as a possibility along with their group travel package.

You can also find much information online as at cyberrentals.com .However, if you're new to renting vacation property, then you should discuss this with your local travel agency.

Information on "skipping the impersonal hotels" and renting a vacation home can also be found at ehow.com . You can rent homes, condos, cabins, cottages, villas, mansions, etc.

These are questions that you should ask:

  1. Cost or affordability - Can you and your group afford to rent this vacation property?
  2. Is the vacation property available during the time you're taking your vacation?
  3. Location location location - Where is the location of the vacation property - Is this where you want to travel?
  4. Is there enough space for your group?
  5. Check at least several available rental properties before deciding what rental property is right for you and/or your group.

According to e-how and our research you can find information on vacation rental properties via the internet, TV and radio, newsletters, newspapers and magazines, travel agents, rental property management companies, classified ads.

You must also know the owner's rules about such things as pets and maximum occupancy. You should also have a written contract.
