San Diego Zoo
This rates #1 on the top 10 best zoos to visit in the United States. It offers over 4,000 different animals and 800 different species. You can view exhibits where animals are side by side as they would be in the wild. It offers a collection of over 700,000 different varieties of plants in its expansive botanical gardens. A thirty-five minute Guided Bus Tour covers about 75% of the zoo. The skyfari aerial tram gives you a treetop view of the zoo. Animals, plants, and Balboa Park can all be viewed from the tram. The skyfari tram operates from 10am-4:15pm and in the summer season it operators longer. The Balboa Park Miniature Railroad is a 3 minute ride so you can see Balboa Park. It operates from 11am-6:30pm during the summer, and on weekends 11am-4:30pm. The zoo offers the #5 ranked Wild Animal Park. The Wild Animal Park houses endangered species from around the world.
Disney's Animal Kingdom
The #2 ranked Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida offers 1700 animals on 500 acres with plenty of entertainment the whole family can enjoy. Finding Nemo musical, Festival of The Lion from The Lion King, Flight of Wonder featuring 30 different birds, and Pocahontas and her forest friends perform a musical. Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade which travels through out the park. There is also entertainment for those of us who would like to take a more hands on approach. Petting Zoo Affection Section offers you a chance to get up close and personal with animals from the North American region. Also at Rafiki's you can play games with your family, or you can take a hike on Disney's Island Trails, plus much much more.
