Have you ever called a company and received that dreaded recording? If you know the extension of the party you are calling, dial it now. You press their extension and what do you get? Another recording. The person you are dialing is on another line or has stepped away from their desk. Come back. Get off the phone. Oops, there is the beep. Do I want o leave a message? Hell no. I will just try back later. Look out if you dial the wrong extension, you could be transferred from one department to the other until you have talked to every department in the company.
The endless menus are driving me crazy! How many times have you been interrupted and had to start a phone call all over again? What happened to a real person answering the phone? I am so grateful for the many technological advances, especially computers, but let's get a real person on the line and get us where we need to go.
Have you ever been so frustrated with all the recordings, that you simply hung up? Been there, done that. For the most part, I do not believe automated telephone systems have improved communication. Yes, it is great if you do not want to talk with a live person and just pay your bill or request service. Make sure you have all your information or you will just have to hang up and start the process all over again.
To those tired of being transferred, endless holding, and those dreaded recordings, I feel your pain. Maybe all companies should offer live chat!
