Lamborghini Police Car in London: The World’s Coolest Cop Car

There is a police car traveling in London: It is the car of the year!

A few years ago I remember seeing one of those “Police Slow” signs at the side of the road, upon which some wag had scrawled: “They are, aren’t they?”

Well, if that gentleman or any other miscreant think they can outrun the long arm of the law, let me tell you, its reach has just got a lot longer thanks to a 640bhp Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.

No more BMW 535d patrol cars for our boys in blue. Instead they will have a bellowing Italian 6.5-litre V12 and four-wheel-drive at their disposal, good for 211mph and 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds.

That should have the joy riders giving up and coming quietly before they’ve even managed to hot wire the ignition. The world’s coolest cop car is going to be on display at the Metropolitan Police stand at the MPH ’06 show at London’s Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre which starts today and runs until November 5.

@Max: It is most likely from a drug bust or an event where they seized property. I dont think that they paid for it.

There is only onee of these cars not a fleet, and it wasnt bought with tax payers money it was donated by the Lamborghini company to the police, the article is misleading in that regard

Even if it was seized, the annual cost of routine maintenance on that particular vehicle is greater than the cost of finanicing the old BMW 535 cars the police normally drive in London!

Even if this extravagant car was donated, the cost burden is still with the tax payers to maintain the car, is it not?

This car has not and will not ever be an operational Police vehicle it was a promotonal stunt nothing more nothing less, The Met Police have a hard enough time keeping thier fleet of TDi Astras on the road to answer your calls without this to contend with too!

If they didn't actually buy it, they could have confiscated it from a drug bust.. Police often take the cars and use them for themselves. There is a Corvette in my town taken from drug dealers.
