Porta Nuova, Turin

The history and design of Porto Nuova train station in Turin.

Porta Nuova is the main train station of Turin and dates back to the 1860s. Alessandro Mazzucchetti modeled it after London's famous King’s Cross station and the design originally consisted arrivals and departures halls separated by a chamber with a semicircular roof.

Because of radical modifications in the early 20th century the interior structure is changed completely but what does remain is the magnificent façade.
