Two Views of the Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

A popular tourist attraction, the Eiffel Tower still lures us to it. What noone bothers to ask is what functionality did it serve?

This is a photograph of The Eiffel Tower as it looked in 1971. The tower can be seen from across the bridge which is probably where I was when I snapped it. It looks like a radio tower doesn't. Who would like to take a guess as to what function if any it ever served as we all know towers are service towers. What service did the Eiffel Tower serve?

Here ladies and gentlemen we have my daughter in Paris enjoying what I thought was an éclair but was corrected by her royal traveler an Eiffel pancake.. Really.

The tower doesn't look any worse for wear as this photograph is taken in 2007. The sage question of the tower remains, what service did the Eiffel Tower perform. Maybe it picks up radio signals from Mars!
